because fastfood is too mainstream

In the season of losing weight, which comes after the season of gaining it (read: months of january til march), people start kicking out transfat in their systems, and begin indulging themselves in copious amounts of fiber and greens, and inhumane hours without end on a running spree or trip to the gym. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

But "you and me" both know, we just can't be like that. We like to eat and eat some more.

NOMNOMNOM.
That sound, which is aptly used to name a small restaurant along Tomas Morato in QC with a tight-knight following (of mostly artsy types) devotes itself to really delicious food which bear no resemblance to junk. food. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet of food we all can eat. Why? Because everything's satisfying but not lethal.

Take for instance, their fish and chips. It's typical bar grub, but it was likeable. I liked it a lot. Probably cos I'm a seafood and tater fanatic, so this works for me, but I'd like to think it was good because it wasn't greasy and didn't overwhelm me like what any beer match typically does.

Now, the enchilada. Amen and I loved this one. The tortilla was soft and the cheese oozed out of it in a really, really seductive way. It almost felt like a sin eating it. Hehe. This filled me up real good. I wanted to eat some more, but my almost defeated tummy, didn't want to pass out on the next thing we ordered: the pizza.

It was a "Talong and Lasting Love" pizza. Haha. The name, loosely based on the cheesy "A Long and Lasting Love" song, was, in fact, cheesy. And the talong (eggplant / aubergine / madapple), was grilled well. It wasn't bitter or raw, and it's flavor blended well with the tangy tomato sauce. yum! Would hev wanted the dough to be thinner. It was too "homemade by a 3rd grader"-like because it was too thick, like the person who rolled it out was too tired to flatten the surface more. Or maybe they really just weren't going for the thin kind. Hehe.

Everything, we washed down with cold Pilsen, and the night, which started out right, was made even better.

Nomnomnom Happy Food does make you happy. And we're coming back for more.
